Common Questions
Why is material compatibility so important for AdBlue?
AdBlue (32.5% urea solution) is chemically aggressive to many common metals. Brass, copper, mild steel, and zinc corrode on contact, releasing metallic ions that contaminate the fluid. When contaminated AdBlue enters a vehicle's SCR system, it damages the catalyst — a repair costing $5,000-$15,000 per vehicle.
Can I store AdBlue in a standard diesel tank?
No. Diesel tanks use mild steel which corrodes in contact with AdBlue. Dedicated AdBlue tanks use stainless steel or polyethylene for all wetted surfaces. GO Fill stocks purpose-built AdBlue storage tanks and dual-compartment GO CON-AB units.
How much AdBlue does a truck use?
Modern Euro 5/6 trucks consume AdBlue at approximately 3-5% of diesel consumption. A truck burning 100L of diesel per day will use 3-5L of AdBlue. Size your storage for 7-14 days supply based on fleet consumption.
Does AdBlue freeze?
Yes, at -11 degrees C. In cold climates, consider insulated or heated storage. Frozen AdBlue returns to full specification once thawed — never add anti-freeze or any additive.
