Common Questions
What flow rate do I need?
For single-vehicle refuelling, 50–70lpm is adequate. For fleet operations refuelling multiple vehicles, 100–200lpm reduces waiting time. Match your pump flow rate to your meter and filter ratings — they must be equal or higher.
Can I use a 12V pump on a 240V supply?
No. 12V DC and 240V AC pumps use different motors and wiring. Choose the voltage that matches your power supply. For fixed sites with mains power, 240V AC delivers better flow rates and duty cycle. For portable or vehicle-mounted setups, 12V DC is the standard choice.
Do I need an ATEX-rated pump for diesel?
Not typically. Diesel has a high flash point and is classified as a C1 combustible liquid (not flammable) under AS1940. ATEX-rated pumps are required for petrol, aviation fuel, and other flammable liquids, or when pumping in a classified hazardous zone.
How long will a pump last?
With proper maintenance (clean fuel, regular filter changes, and correct duty cycle), quality vane pumps from Piusi and Fill-Rite typically last 5–10 years in commercial service. We stock replacement vane kits and rotor assemblies for all models.
