KEY FEATURES
The GO Fire-Rated tank is a UL2085-listed vaulted fuel storage system. Lightweight fireproofing material between the inner and outer tanks provides a Fire Resistance Level of 240/240/240, meaning the tank maintains structural integrity, insulation and containment for four hours under full fire engulfment.
Withstands four hours of full fire engulfment without loss of structural adequacy, insulation or integrity. UL2085-listed construction with lightweight fireproofing material in the interstitial space. This is the highest practical fire rating for self bunded fuel tanks.
AS1940 Clause 5.6.2(c) permits indoor storage of Class 3 dangerous goods (diesel and petrol) in fire-rated tanks. Store fuel inside workshops, warehouses, car parks and basements where standard tanks cannot be installed.
Fire-rated construction allows reduced setback distances. Minimum 2 metres to boundaries, 1 metre to fences. This means the tank fits in tight urban sites, building service areas and restricted footprint facilities where a standard tank wouldn't comply.
The outer shell provides vehicle impact and ballistic protection as part of the UL2085 listing. No additional bollards or crash barriers required around the tank in most installations - the tank is its own protection.
Both the primary (inner) tank and secondary (outer) tank are independently pressure tested at 25 kPa. Built-in interstitial monitoring tube provides continuous leak detection between the two shells without electronic instrumentation.
Rectangular footprint maximises capacity per square metre of floor space. Purpose-built for constrained sites where cylindrical tanks waste room. Stack against walls, fit between columns, install in basements.
WHAT'S INCLUDED
Every GO Fire-Rated tank ships with these standard fittings and safety features. Dispensing equipment is sold separately to match your specific flow rate and installation requirements.

SITE & INSTALLATION REQUIREMENTS
Fire-rated tanks have specific installation requirements that differ from standard self bunded tanks. Work with your fire engineer and local authority early in the design process.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can't find your answer?
Contact UsWhat does FRL 240/240/240 mean?
FRL stands for Fire Resistance Level. The three numbers represent structural adequacy, integrity and insulation - each rated in minutes. FRL 240/240/240 means the tank maintains all three properties for 240 minutes (4 hours) under full fire engulfment. This is tested to the UL2085 standard.
Can I really store fuel indoors?
Yes. AS1940 Clause 5.6.2(c) explicitly permits indoor storage of Class 3 dangerous goods (including diesel and petrol) in fire-rated tanks that meet the specified FRL requirements. You need fire engineer certification and local authority approval for the specific installation.
What are the separation distance benefits?
Fire-rated tanks qualify for halved setback distances under AS1940. Where a standard self bunded tank might require 4 metres to a boundary, a fire-rated tank of the same capacity may only need 2 metres. This makes fire-rated tanks the right choice for tight urban sites and constrained facilities.
Does the tank come with a pump?
No. The GO Fire-Rated ships as a bare tank with all standard fittings (fill points, suction, vents, leak detection). Dispensing equipment is sold separately so you can match the pump, meter and controls to your specific installation and fluid type.
Can I store petrol in a fire-rated tank?
Yes. The GO Fire-Rated is rated for diesel, petrol (ULP), kerosene, lubricants, waste oil and AdBlue. For petrol storage, explosion-proof dispensing equipment is required. The fire rating and vehicle impact protection make these tanks particularly well-suited to petrol applications where standard tanks cannot meet the safety requirements.
How is leak detection handled?
A built-in interstitial monitoring tube with a 2" dip point allows manual checking of the space between the inner and outer tanks. Insert a dip stick or electronic probe to detect any moisture or fuel. No electrical instrumentation is required in the hazardous zone.
What maintenance is required?
Routine maintenance includes monthly interstitial monitoring checks, quarterly inspection of fill point connections and vent paths, 6-monthly review of the C4 coating condition, and annual fire compliance inspection by a qualified person. The fireproofing material does not require maintenance under normal conditions.
What is the difference between UL2085 and UL142?
UL142 is the standard for steel above-ground tanks (construction and leak containment). UL2085 is the fire-rated (vaulted) standard that adds fire resistance, vehicle impact and ballistic protection requirements on top of UL142. All GO Fire-Rated tanks meet both standards.
