Common Questions
What is a self-bunded tank?
A self-bunded tank is a double-walled fuel storage tank where the outer wall acts as a built-in bund (secondary containment). This eliminates the need for a separate bunded compound on-site. The interstitial space between the inner and outer walls captures any leak from the primary tank, meeting AS1940 secondary containment requirements.
Do I need council approval to install a self-bunded tank?
In most Australian states, self-bunded tanks under 25,000L that meet AS1940 requirements can be installed without a development permit. However, notification or registration with your local fire authority may still be required. Requirements vary by state and council — we recommend confirming before commissioning.
What's the difference between GO BOX, GO STORE, and GO CON?
GO BOX tanks (250L–11,000L) are portable, crane-liftable, and UN transport rated. GO STORE tanks (5,500L–16,000L) are designed for fixed-site installations with full-height pump bays. GO CON tanks (12,000L–110,000L) are containerised units for large-scale fuel depots and mine sites.
Can I store petrol in a self-bunded tank?
Yes, but the tank must be rated for petrol storage. Petrol-rated tanks require EX-rated electrical components, flame arrestor venting, and specific material compatibility. Not all models in each range are petrol-approved — confirm with our team before ordering.
